Terms of Service

Effective date: October 16, 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and me, Holden Richardson, for using Holden's Watch Desk ("Watch Desk") at holdenswatchdesk.com. I run it myself as a sole proprietor in Michigan, USA. By creating an account or using Watch Desk, you agree to these terms. The Privacy Policy explains how I handle your data.

1. Who can use Watch Desk

You must be at least 18 and able to make a binding agreement. Each account is for one person. For now, Watch Desk is offered only to people in the United States.

2. Your account

  • You sign in through Clerk, with Google or a verified email address.
  • Keep your sign-in secure. You're responsible for what happens in your account.
  • Don't open extra accounts to get more free credits.
  • I may limit or pause new sign-ups and run a waitlist instead.

3. Plans and prices

  • Free: 1 credit a month, up to 10 watches you add yourself, rankings, Buy first and Grails. No card needed.
  • Plus: $19.99 a month. 20 credits a month, unlimited watches and compare.
  • Founding price for Plus: the first 50 Plus subscriptions pay $9.99 a month for as long as that subscription continues. It ends if the subscription ends for any reason, including cancelling or a payment that's never made, or if you switch to Power. A founding place isn't handed back once used. If you come back later, you pay the regular price.
  • Power: $29.99 a month. 40 credits a month and everything in Plus.
  • Credit packs, for Plus and Power members: 10 credits for $11.99, or 25 for $27.99.

Prices are in US dollars.

4. How credits work

  • One credit is one research report. If I add other AI features, each will show its credit cost before you use it.
  • A credit is spent only when a report saves. If a run fails or times out, nothing is spent.
  • A running report holds its credit until it finishes. You can run one report at a time.
  • Monthly credits reset on the 1st of each month (UTC) and don't roll over. They're used before pack credits.
  • Pack credits don't expire. They stay usable if you move to Free, as long as your account is open.
  • Credits have no cash value. They can't be transferred, sold or swapped for money, and they end when your account is deleted.
  • Research has hourly and daily limits, per account and across Watch Desk, to keep costs and abuse in check. It may sometimes be unavailable.

5. Billing, renewal and cancelling

  • Stripe processes all payments. I never see your card number.
  • Plus and Power renew automatically every month and charge your payment method until you cancel.
  • Cancel any time under Account, then Manage plan, which opens Stripe's billing portal. Cancelling takes effect at the end of the month you've paid for. You keep your plan until then and won't be charged again.
  • You can switch between Plus and Power in the same portal. Stripe shows what you'll pay before you confirm.
  • When a paid plan ends, your account moves to Free and nothing is deleted. If you have more than 10 watches you added yourself, you keep and can edit all of them, but can't add new ones until you're under the limit or upgrade again.
  • If a payment fails, Stripe retries it. If it stays unpaid, your paid plan ends.
  • I may change prices. For an existing subscription, I'll email you at least 30 days ahead, and you can cancel before the new price applies. A founding price doesn't change while that subscription continues.

6. Refunds

  • Subscriptions: cancelling stops future charges. I don't refund part of a month.
  • Credit packs: not refundable once bought, except where the law requires otherwise.
  • Mistakes: if you're charged twice, charged for something you didn't get, or a credit is spent on a report that didn't save, email me within 30 days and I'll fix it or refund it.

7. What the research is, and isn't

  • Reports are written by an AI model that reads public websites. They can be wrong, out of date or incomplete.
  • Facts cite sources, and what the research can't confirm is marked unknown. Check the sources, and the watch, before you buy.
  • Scores, rankings, collection fit and Buy first are opinions and tools to help you decide. They're not facts or promises.
  • Watch Desk doesn't check authenticity, condition, sellers, prices or availability. Prices are dated snapshots and may have changed.
  • Nothing in Watch Desk is financial or investment advice. Don't buy a watch as an investment because of something you read here.
  • I don't sell watches, and brands and dealers can't pay to change research results or rankings.
  • Linked articles, photos and videos belong to their owners. Reports show them for reference, with links back to where they came from.

8. Your content

  • You own what you put in: notes, photos, ratings, rankings and lists. Reports you run are yours to use.
  • You give me permission to store, copy, process and display your content only as needed to run Watch Desk for you, including sending what a research report needs to the AI providers in the Privacy Policy and keeping backups. It ends when you delete the content or your account, apart from backups that expire on their own.
  • I won't publish your content, use it in my videos or posts, or share it with other users without your permission.
  • Only upload photos and information you have the right to use.

9. Acceptable use

Don't:

  • scrape, crawl or copy Watch Desk with bots or scripts, or use it to build a competing database;
  • try to get into someone else's account, or probe or break Watch Desk's security;
  • get around plan limits, credits or rate limits, including with extra accounts;
  • overload Watch Desk or get in the way of other people using it;
  • point the research tool at private or internal web addresses, use it to attack websites, or use it for anything unlawful;
  • upload other people's private information, such as their personal details or photos of people who haven't agreed;
  • upload anything illegal, harmful, or that infringes someone else's rights;
  • share, sell or rent out access to your account.

10. What belongs to me

The app, its code, design, research methods and the Holden's Watch Desk name belong to me. These terms let you use Watch Desk, nothing more. I can use any ideas or feedback you send me freely.

11. Suspending or closing accounts

  • You can stop using Watch Desk any time. To delete your account, use Account, then Delete my account, or email me from your account's address. Deleting cancels any paid plan right away, with no refund for the rest of the month, and unused credits, including pack credits, are lost.
  • I can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, doesn't pay, or puts Watch Desk or other people at risk. I'll tell you why, unless the law or someone's safety prevents it.
  • Watch Desk is new and still changing. I may add, change or remove features.
  • If I shut Watch Desk down, I'll give at least 30 days' notice so you can download your data, and refund unused pack credits.

12. No guarantees

Watch Desk is provided "as is" and "as available." As far as the law allows, I don't promise it will always be available or error-free, or that research will be accurate or complete, and I disclaim implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

13. Limits on my liability

As far as the law allows:

  • I'm not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including lost data, lost profits, or money spent on a watch because of something in Watch Desk.
  • My total liability for any claim about Watch Desk is limited to the greater of what you paid me in the 12 months before the claim, or $50.

Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.

14. Disputes

Please email me first. Most problems can be fixed that way. These terms are governed by Michigan law. Any dispute goes to the state or federal courts in Kent County, Michigan, except that either of us may use small claims court if the claim qualifies.

15. Changes to these terms

I'll post any new version with a new effective date and email account holders at least 30 days before an important change applies. If you keep using Watch Desk after that, the new terms apply. If you don't agree, cancel and delete your account.

16. The rest

These terms and the Privacy Policy are our whole agreement. If part can't be enforced, the rest still applies. Not enforcing something right away doesn't mean I've given it up. You can't transfer your account; I can transfer these terms if I hand over Watch Desk, after telling you.
